Snow...what?!?! ThE bEsT SNOW ICE CREAM EvEr!!

Hello Monday!!!! Annnd for us in the midwest... hello snowstorm Linus....yaaay (can you sense the sarcasm? It's there.) But what else does snowstorm bring besides snow? Snow ice cream. One of my favs! I used to work at a day care and when it snowed we'd rock the snow ice cream. Now that I have my own girls- WE rock the snow ice cream. It is surprisingly good. Just make sure to get clean snow. Yah know, 'Don't you go where the Huskies go and don't you eat that yellow snow!'

SIDE NOTE (to see snow ice cream SCROLL ON)
Despite the inability to travel easily, there are some living things that enjoy the snow! Meet my Husky Mya! She loves the snow, she spends a lot of her time outside this time of year.

And then there's my polydactyl cat- Schwartz. He's confused as to whether is a cat or dog. But he too, enjoys the snow.

And so, now, for how my girls and I enjoy the snow- from inside!

This recipe is super easy. First collect about 8 C of CLEAN snow. And don't mind the child is summer jammies collecting SNOW! It was a quick collect ;)
Next, gather all ingredients: 1 C milk, 1/3 C sugar, Pinch of salt and 1tsp Vanilla extract.

Add everything to a large bowl and mix to desired consistency.

Scoop into bowls, add sprinkles- A MUST!
and Enjoy!!!
Yummm....

Here's the recipe:

To video or not to video...that is the question

So, it's a snow day today and I'm here cooking breakfast contemplating whether or not to video. Yah know, like a hello world meet me. I think I am interesting and have stuff to say, buuuut will the world?  I've only been active at this for a week or so and have read it takes a long time- years to get readers followers etc. But I'm an instant gratification type gal. So, naturally...I'm looking for ways to boost my traffic. As I look at youtube, videos work. Just not too sure if I am ready for criticism as there are trolls out there.

I was telling my husband, this is the internet but it's like making a new friend- this blog. Will I write what people want to read or will they be like WTF Kelly?! I use the internet for fun- FB really. But for this, it's different. Especially the logistics. HTML codes- HUH??? Cut and paste this crazy line of numbers, symbols and letters where, to make my site do what? Ok...no- I'll royally screw it up. The courage will find me eventually.... No off to make some snow ice cream on my SnOw DaY!!!!!

It's February- Heart Month- CHD's SUCK!

CHD...Congenital Heart Defect-HUH??

February is American Heart Month. Mean anything to you? Maybe not. In all honestly up until 2010, it didn't to me either. I mean, yea, we do Jump Rope for Heart at school, wear red and eat healthier in the teacher's lounge. But that was about it. But you see in 2010, Mayish, that change. My first daughter Olivia...

was very sick and I had to call the on call doctor at 2 am. I reached Dr. Dana Hartwigsen, who has since moved to Iowa and we are heartbroken. She spent so much time with this distraught mother. She checked and rechecked herself- which meant so much to me- no one knows everything. I instantly knew I was switching to this amazing woman/ doctor. First time I took her in, she remembered us or read her notes/chart whatever. As a mom, OMG that meant so much. I fell in love.

She did her routine stuff and in listening to Olivia's heart, she said "Has she always had this heart murmur?" GULP... Heart sinks, Stomach turns, Eyes well up annnnnd I puke a  little in my mouth- sorry for the details! I had no idea what that meant other than her heart was not right. My beautiful baby. We had been to the previous doctor and bazillion times. She never had it then. A Heart murmur?!

Dr. Hartwigsen calmed me down as much as possible. I called my parents (my husband was at the visit) to find out my dad has one. OK, OK. Maybe I can handle this. Maybe.

So...a few weeks later we go to a local heart doctor and because she is so little he refers us to a pediatric cardiologist. Ok, maybe I don't got this. A new doctor a special doctor- for little people? I was supposed to be no big deal. Here we go- PANIC!

So on we go and schedule with Dr. Steven Neuberger. Very kind man, gentle with the little ones and later on I will find THE BEST Pediatric Cardiologist EVER. We take her and he explains she has an ASD (Her oxygen rich blood was leaking into the oxygen poor blood's chamber) as well as Pulmonary Stenosis. HUH?! What the hell does all this mean? Dr. Neuberger did his best to educate and calm us. There was a very good chance it would all heal on it's own. Cool, cool. THAT will happen. Right?! So, follow up visit next year, no restrictions...We are on our way will our broken-hearted baby that we would love forever and ever. All would heal all would be fine. Right?

WRONG.

And that, my friends, was 2010, when heart month became a little more important. It's importance now has exponentially grown. And that change happened in
2013.

In order to try to raise awareness; I will share our personal journey and what happened. I will post our journey throughout the month of February, focusing on the week of 7-14, CHD Awareness week.

CHD's are the #1 birth defect and #1 cause of birth defect related deaths. 1 in 100 babies are born with this defect.
Ours was and we took her home... with it UNDETECTED.

She Blinded me with Science!

Before I began blogging (and really after, too) I loved to plan parties. My friends and family know I love to entertain and create fun memories. I am a theme girl- everything needs a theme. It connects people and quite frankly drives the party poopers NUTS. ;) So for my sister's 30th, I knew I wanted to do something special for her. She is scientist so, why not THEME it "Mad Scientist?" And that'a what I did! We had a mad scientist pub crawl! It was fun to plan, but took a lot of work. We had it fairly small, if larger, I would recommend calling the bars ahead of time to make sure they can handle a party of your size/

I invited some of our closest friends and family. Asked them to dress as scientists. We had wigs, lab coats, googles, gloves- the works- so fun! We met at the train and had 3 stops. Each stop had it's own game or fun activity. Some were rewarded with a drink to the winner. We even made LOTS of friends along the way. The theme really drew people to us! Not one to complain- they all loved it!

For the ride down I created a special drink "The Mad scientist." It was a concoction made for the mad scientist herself and I put it in a special cup. My daughter and I designed her lab coat and brought her accessories- she had NO idea!

This was a pub crawl, so we were drinking on this event. If you're not a drinker, you could do the same minus the liquor! The birthday girl had her own jello shot in her Biohazard bag! HAHAHA! Soooo, I also made shots and jello shots for the train ride. Each were made in new petri dish, as well as test tubes  from Amazon.

At each stop I had a game. The first stop we had a science experiment... Can you get the straw through the potato- using nothing but the potato and straw given. Winner was awarded a drink!

It was early enough that the bar was not too full, so we were able to get a few rounds of flippy cup in!

And then it was time to move on. We moved on to the second restaurant. But we needed to celebrate the birthday girl with some cake and singing!
And onto the next location!
Here everyone had to try to sink their mini marshmallow in water! Took quite awhile, again a drink was the prize!

Then on to our hometown to continue the party! SELFIE!!!!!!!!

Adult Mad Scientist party:
Invite guests to dress as Mad Scienists
Create an outfit for guest of honor
Supply drinks if inclined using petri dishes, test tubes and beakers.
Provide Science experiments along the way, create science themed activities
Be responsible. Especially if drinking!

I hope you enjoyed this idea!

Love her- ChALeNe JohNsOn

So, I sit here with an ice pack on my back after Zumba tonight deciding what to write about- because as you know it was something I am committed to doing so. Hmmmm....

Well, I decided to write about one of my new favorite fitness/life things. Podcasts. Heard of them? They are like radio stations on itunes. My favorite is by my girl- Chalene Johnson. She is AH-MAZ-ING. She is a motivational speaker and fitness guru. I first 'met' Chalene doing her awesome Turbo Jam workout, then- at one point in my life I graduated up to Turbo Fire! I can no longer do TF with out feeling like I was going to die. Anyhow, she has a podcast called The Chalene Show. She touches on everything from health, wellness, motivation, just about anything you need as a pick me up. I listen to them any time I have time- getting ready, in the car (if I don't have the kids), before bed. I love them. She gives you tips and tricks to make life just that easier. She is down to Earth from Michigan- here in the Midwest. I just adore Chalene! You really should CHECK HER OUT!!! Here on: FacebookPodcastTwitter and Instagram.

Find her and love her too!

I'm back!

Ok peeps, the few friends who actually read this! Hopefully this year I can acquire some readers and commit to posting frequently.

My girlfriend has a blog and she is recommitting to her blog and has inspired me to, too. Here's her blog: http://wherestheskinnymama.blogspot.com/. As she writes, we have begun a group on Facebook, just a few of us, to commit to be healthy. Everyone is at different places in their life, different weight, different lifestyle. But we are the BEST of friends. We have committed to different things. Me, I committed to eating better and exercising daily. After a week, I lost 3lbs only to sprain my back and be out for 2 weeks. Although, nothing lost, nothing gained. So, not terrible. Headed to the doctor tomorrow. THE CHIRO! Never been, hopefully he can heal. I'm so sick of being in pain.

So, are you going to make a commitment this year to something- ANYTHING?! Tell me about it! Why tell me? Why not? I need some internet friends so I blow some shit up with my awesome posts to come! HA!

Younique 3d Mascara

Younique 3D mascara Review
Here it is!

Well folks, there it is what do you think? I was very skeptical about this mascara but I saw the awesome reviews on Facebook so I decided to put it to the test.

I am a make up lover. I love playing with it! Halloween is my favorite because I get to do all the stuff I can't do on a daily basis. So, I hear of a mascara that will make my lashes up to 300 times longer and fuller. Hell yes, hook me up.

So, purchase it, I did. And I anticipated for a long time putting it on. Had to clean my eyes make sure everything was perfect and ready to go for this brand-new amazing mascara!

Now, anybody who reads this who loves this mascara may want to kill me. Because my review this mascara is not what everybody else claims it to be. Now my lashes above look nice and long and everything. But, only one of those eyes is a 3-D mascara. The other is a $3.97 Rimmel extra long lashes.

Okay, scandal flex. Whatever. AnyWho, I clean my lashes wash my face and did not put any other make up on except for the two mascaras. Can you guess which is which? Maybe, but there's no big huge noticeable difference between the two, in my opinion. Each eye has three layers, I guess you would call it. One of the 3-D lashes the other of the Rimmel.

I followed all instructions and even looked on YouTube to see if there was some technique or something that I wasn't doing properly there wasn't.
Again, can you tell which is which?

I do plan on continuing to use it, to see if with time application gets better. I also started to use a eyebrow brush to help spread out the lashes and hopefully make them a little bit better today is my second application, no third application, of this mascara and I use the brush my lashes. It looks better but still I'm not sold. Don't get me wrong it's a nice mascara but it's also $30 and the other one is just under $4.

So who knows what time my opinion could change but for now I'm going to go with the $4 mascara. But if things change as I use it,  I will change my review.

Sorry!!! 😁
