$5 DIY Halloween Wreath- so fun and easy!

Hello ALL!

I have a fun Halloween craft that is soooo easy, inexpensive and can be done in less that 30 min. It took me about 15 to make. So fast, sun and easy I made two and have the stuff for a 3rd! It'd be a great Halloween gift and easy enough for the kiddos. Definitely help them with the glue though! ;) Check it out below!

All my materials were from Dollar Tree but you could get them anywhere- JoAnns, Michael's, Hobby lobby, etc. You could add more or less given your taste!
All I used was a foam a foam wreath, 2 boas, a roll of ribbon, an owl and same bats. You will need hot glue to attach everything.

First, I wrapped the ribbon about the foam wreath. It gives a little color under the feathers in case the feather don't completely cover the wreath. This was not the best color to have but it worked. On my other wreath I used ribbon that was not see through.

All done...

Nest wrap the two boas around the wreath. I wrap them side by side rather than end to end. You need to hot glue each of the boa ends down, wrap and glue when fully wrapped. Before adding dabs of glue to hold feathers in place, fluff them to cover all parts of the wreath.

Next add in your main decoration. I added the owl here. It was a little tricky getting him to stick but with enough persistence and hot glue he stuck. And BONUS, he has light up eyes. SO I had to be especially be careful not to glue the on/off button.

Tada!
Next I had 2 clippy bats. I, actually, clipped them to the boa and did not glue them at all! They stayed perfectly fine!!!

Finished product:

And then, eyes- lit up!

Here is another one I made! This was the first then I thought, how cool would it be to share this cool, inexpensive craft with you!

Hope you enjoy! f you make one- please share! I love looking at other's crafts!!!

Ahhhh... It's that time of year...GROSS

School's back in session and we received the inevitable letter... Lice. I can already feel my head itch!!! Those disgusting little parasites that breed and live in human hair. SO GROSS. I will die if my children get those gross critters.

So I've read the Tea Tree oil is effective in thwarting off those little buggers. Here's an article:

Anyways, I'm using it as a deterrent. I've in the past put it in their shampoo. But tonight I forgot and blow dried Olivia's hair. Too late for the shampoo, so I decided to dilute it into a spray bottle. I don't want straight oil on my daughters hair but I don't want to send her defenseless. So... I diluted it with water. Yes- oil and water. Not sure how it would work obviously they separate. But, I was able to figure a quick solution.

Grab them here:

I vigorously shook the spray bottle with a 4:1 water: oil mixture. Sprayed immediately on her hair, as I would hairspray. It smelled of Tea Tree oil which works for me!

I'm not a scientist, just a mom desperate to not EVER have lice. This is my personal way to put my mind at peace. If you're like me, give it try- can't hurt.

I just got my bottle at the local Walmart by the vitamins.

Good luck!

DIY gifts for GiRlS wEeKeNd!

Looking for a way to add some fun to your Girl's Weekend? Check out what I made for my girls, we had a BLAST!

SO we decided we needed a weekend away from kids, husbands, pets, etc. A girl's weekend was the way to go! So we all chose food to bring (which we ended up withe waaaaay to much food). Who want to bring to salads- blahhhhh. Two salad, freezy alcoholic beverage and cookies- YES! two salads- NO! Anyways, take a look at what I did! Hope you enjoy!

Treasured Memories!
Here I took a dollar store notebook, embellished with stickers and bought mini pens. One for each girl! WE wrote down memories from the weekend in there. Everyone had reign over the book, therefore it's filled with a TON of memories!

Next up each girl got their own goody bag! Which included a- whatttt- SELFIE STICK! Dorks, I know. But we had fun with them! I picked them up a Amazon for $5 each. You can get them at Five Below if you have those near you! Also, a sleeping mask, flat plastic princess flask, Chap-stick, Kleenex, nail file, fun cocktail umbrella and w wine glass charm each with their own color high heel!

And all but the Wine Charms from Dollar Tree!

I folded up a brown bag and hot glued the sides, finished it off witha black sparkly ribbon and a Girls Weekend tag!

All 6 of the ready to go!

Oh Shit Kit! For the next mornings! All inside a zip-loc bag with a tag at the top.

Included:
Sunglasses, Visine, tums, body spray and mints!!

HOpe you enjoy your Girl's Weekend! We did!

Somewhere in the world tonight- song

SO, quick post today- again. I went to BodyCombat tonight, which, by the way, I LOVE! Our cool down song was this song Somewhere in the World Tonight by Altiyan Childs. And I feel in love. "Somewhere in the world tonight, Somewhere in the world tonight there is no indifference, everyone has a voice... I believe there is a place where rich and poor can walk side by side..." The lyrics just got me. It is a beautiful song. Please take a minute and check it out. I love it. AMAZING!!! Let me know what you think!

No Fire Needed S'Mores

Hey guys! So the other day I was introduced to S'mores- fire not needed. Which is great because I am kinda a sucky S'mores maker! I burn the mellow, set it on fire or it is raw. Ugh! A friend at work brought stuff for S'mores and set it out in the lounge. I was confused, no idea what she wanted us to do. I wasn't going to eat an uncooked S'more...bllllaahhhhh... I called her and asked if she was losing her marbles! She informed me to heat that bad boy for 30ish (more/less depending on the microwave) seconds in the microwave!

I tried it and it was sooo good, chocolate ran everywhere. So yummy!

I decided this would be a fun event for the kiddos! So you will see how we rocked it out with No Fire Needed S'mores!
Start with...

Put a marshmellow on each cracker

See... in micro for 30ish seconds.

BOOM! Blown up mellows!

Add some delish chocolate!

Smuuuush!

Yummmm!!!

Are you sure this is a legit S'Mores?

Look at that ooey, gooey goodness!

Yeeeeeessssss, PLEASE!

It was so good and so easy for the kiddos!

The Outdoor cushion Project

We got this outdoor set for free... buuuuutttttttt... the cushions were AWFUL! Like SUPER bad. Really bad. When I looked online fro prices I was looking at $60 per CUSHION! We have 6 chairs- 3 cushions each. The deep ones. Yeah, I got the set for free I did not want to spend $600ish on cushions when for a little more I could get a brand new set. The set we got FREE is $800 at Menards. So I pinterested recovering out door cushions. I found a ton of tutorials. Some claim to be 'easy' but when looking at them, they were not easy to follow at all. At least not for a novice like me! After awhile I found a GREAT tutorials at...

I folllowed her tutorial and instead of stitching the end I glued it. Yes, glued with my Hi-temp glue gun. The idea I got from...

With these two awesome tutorials I took my cushions from this...

...to this..

My steps were as follows: my material would not work to do as confessions of a serial Diyer intended. Yes, I could have used 11/2-2 yds per cushion but I'm looking for CHEAP. So each of the 12 cushions get 1 yard! Cheap, frugal- whatever! Saving myself another $60!

So...
1. Finish 1 of the long edges- the 3ft side- not 54" side. This edge will be the front of the cushion, so make sure you finish the proper edge.
I didn't pin but you could! :)
Finished. Not perfect... But it'll work!

Next lay the cushion on the bright side of the fabric...  The front of the cushion facing sewed side. Pinch and pin the fabric so it's pulled tightly against the cushion.

(Remember- the side you sewed a nice edge will be the FRONT of cushion)

Sew your pinched and pinned seam. I always pinned knowing I'm going to sew on the side of the pin away from white part. So the cushion material was tight.
Next...
Put the cushion in to your sewn fabric. Fabric should still be inside out.
Pinch and pin the unsewn edge shut.
(Right now you're making the back of the cushion cover.)
Then sew.you should have a pillowcase looking thing!!!
...
So now you're going to pinch and pin again. Put the cushion inside the inside out pillow case you've just made. Make sure the seam is in the CENTER of the underneath of the cushion. The front of the cushion should be facing the opening of the 'pillowcase.'
When it's all lined up pinch the 2 corners to form a triangle.

Sew the pinched and pinned line....
Then flip right side out and insert pillow.
SO you have a pillow in a pillowcase :)

Insert cushion into the pillowcase. I folded mine like a present. I, then, hot glued it... Yes! Hot glue!!!
I (love my high temp glue gun... I glue everything! Including the decorative type ring around my fog light on my car!)

Here is my final product! They've lasted all summer! With PLENTY of use!!!

Good luck!

Wow! Summer went fast

My goal was to blog like crazy! Get this thing going and guess what?! Didn't happen and I know I am taking my readers on a roller-coaster ride and for that I am sorry! We just moved and went on 3 different vacations- too many. Fun but too many. Our house purchase was a short sale and that was a nightmare. IT needed so much work, meaning endless nights.

School is starting up- for me- next week. Wednesday- what?!?!?!? So crazy. But in a few weeks My daughter starts kindergarten. I am looking for organizational tools. I need to. I will not survive. We have a new nanny coming in for our 2 year old. I love her dearly, but it's different. With the m ove we switched gyms. I know it sounds nuts, but I miss my peeps. Life is hectic and as I look to organize I will make time to blog- weekly- hopefully more than once. I want to be on top of it and at times I don't.

One bit of info I want to share with you is this app- PERISCOPE. Really cool. Live real time streaming. I have been following a few peeps. My favorite is Chalene. IT's a chance to see the world through another's eyes. So cool. I will get on there...soon! Look for me :)
Peace out guys! Please follow me to see my most updated posts. THERE WILL BE MORE!

DrumFIT

I am so excited! Last Friday I was trained in DrumFIT. DrumFIT is an awesome mind, body exercise program! You use fitness balls and drums stick to kill massive amounts of calories! They claim up to 500 per hour...I'm thinking it COULD BE more. I did almost an hour and my heart rate monitor went- BAM up to 474!!! I didn't know the routines or what it was about, the more you do it and get good, the better your workout will be!
Needless to say, I created DrumFIT routines every time I hear a song. So far I did Taylor Swift's Shake it Off and Selena Gomez come and get it! Tonight I'll be working on Uptown Funk! HOT DAMN! And just completed an ab routine to Hey Mama by Nikki Minaj!!!
Watch for videos and more info on the awesome exercise known as DrumFIT!
